Assemblage
Some assemblage boxes have become almost static stage settings—objects are added to create an altered visceral, yet mysterious context. Some mixed media boxes even tell small, intimate stories. I view some of these pieces as three-dimensional collages as I develop the space's extent into an abstract composition. I want these varied mixed-media constructions to spark the viewer's curiosity.
Southbury Trees is an ongoing series of paintings, watercolors, and mixed media boxes. The erect tree-trunk shapes create a horizontal rhythm across the composition, whether in two or three dimensions.
